First the Olsen Twins, Now eBay: T-Shirt Hell.com Told to Cease and Desist Selling Their New Christopher Reeve T-Shirt

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas based internet company Tshirthell.com was hit with a Cease and Desist order from eBay this week, for selling a shirt which says, "I bought Christopher Reeve's wheelchair on eBay."

Last month, Dual Star Entertainment, which controls the massive Mary-Kate and Ashley empire, issued a similar communication to stop the company from selling a t-shirt which said, "I *bleeped* The Olsen Twins Before They Were Famous".

Aaron Landau Schwarz, the founder and owner of T-Shirt Hell said, "I really think it's an insult to the legacy of Christopher Reeve that eBay would order a Cease and Desist on this shirt. What if I told you all of the proceeds from this shirt were earmarked for spinal cord research? Now, that statement is probably not true. But Christopher Reeve's legacy is one of hope. So, you can hope that I'm not lying, and that some of the money we make could possibly go to spinal cord research. Does eBay want people to give up hope?"

Ivan Youngblood, the internationally renowned comic stylist who authored the controversial t-shirt had this to say. "If anything, this shirt is a celebration of the wide variety of items available on eBay. It's not just for penis enlargement pills, phony antiques, stolen goods, dubious diet products, unlicensed pharmaceuticals, and designer knockoffs. Why would eBay choose to distance themselves from a shirt about such a beloved human being like Christopher Reeve? They can only benefit from the publicity. Imagine how many people will go to eBay looking for Christopher Reeve's wheelchair. Even if they don't find it, they'll probably find something they can use, like a hat."

Schwarz vows that he will continue to sell both shirts, and he will not be intimidated by these corporate giants. "It is ridiculous to suggest that consumers would believe that eBay is behind, or endorses our shirt. (a claim that eBay has made in their Cease and Desist order). T-Shirt Hell is not just a business; we're a beacon of free speech and will continue to do what we do....shine like a beacon."

Launched in October 2001, www.tshirthell.com is the most visited t-shirt website on the Internet. The site averages over 75,000 unique visitors and over 400,000 page views daily (source Alexa.com).

Tshirthell.com is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a manufacturing facility located in Phoenix, Arizona.
